Threatened judge refuses to abandon her work

Martha Liliana Escobar Chiquillo is a judicial judge in Lorica, Córdoba. She received a note which told her she had 15 days to abandon Córdoba department, or she will be killed. She is one of four threatened judges in Córdoba alone. Everywhere she goes, twelve policemen accompany her, day and night. She does not know where the threats come from, but most of her work has concentrated on processing cases against the gangs, “los Paisas,” “los Rastrojos” and “las Águilas Negras,” which comprise paramilitary splinter groups.

Martha Liliana Escobar Chiquillo is an example of a believer in the importance of the law, and despite the threat, she continues her work in Córdoba.
