Hooray for the three hundred women who went on the sex strike demanding 35 miles of their roads be fixed. The women withheld sex and the authorities agreed to honor their demands.
The women live in the municipality of Barbacoas in Nariño department near the Pacific Coast, and the road, which links their town to the rest of Colombia, will be paved. The director of major projects of the National Roads Institute, the acting governor of Nariño, and a representative from the Army agreed the road paving would start on October 11.
The women will continue to withhold sex until then. The women’s group said, We are “aware that there have always been many promises made here that have never been kept.”
Many locals died trying to get to the hospital in Pasto, Nariño’s capital. The trip would take 12 to 14 hours.
