Seems like this could be a case of a slip of the tongue: Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he is open to sending American troops to Mexico to help battle drug cartels.
But, apparently, Perry has long supported sending troops to Mexico. He likens Mexico to Colombia. Perry also often calls for more National Guard troops to help protect the Mexican border and stem the flow of illegal immigration.
I wish it would all be that easy, that formulaic.
A spokesman has clarified that Perry is open to all options to cooperate with Mexico.
Once a front-runner in polls, support for the Texas governor is “evaporating like a puddle in the west Texas sun,” according to the Christian Science Monitor.
