Often, it is more cost-efficient for the U.S. to outsource military and police training to Colombia. In co-operation with the U.S., Colombia provides capacity-building assistance in 16 countries inside and outside the region, including Africa.
Further, Colombian service members have trained Mexican helicopter pilots, and now train police in Honduras and Guatemala.
Colombia also provides assistance in non-defense areas like justice reform, criminal investigations, processing intelligence, and deploying soldiers in jungle warfare.
