Former Chilean president Michelle Bachelet is the head of UN Women, a United Nations entity working toward the empowerment of women. Its goal is to sharpen the focus and impact of the gender equality activities of the entire United Nations system.
Of Colombia, she said, “A society’s long-term development, sustainable democracy, and peace cannot be constructed without including women.”
She added that women in the world still do not have the same rights as men, and women have much to add when solving problems.
Well said.
Bachelet was Chile’s president from 2006 to 2010. Before that, she served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Health.
