Former Hostage Clara Rojas spoke about resilience

Clara Rojas is an iron woman. The FARC kidnapped Clara alongside presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt in 2002. In 2006, Clara had a baby boy, Emmanuel, while in captivity. In 2008, after six years, she was released.

Clara recently attended an event at the Colombian Ministry of Family Welfare and she told the children, “After all is done, you can smile again.”

She spoke of the importance of resilience. She advised that throughout any traumatic event, you must try to adapt and foster your free thoughts. No one can take away your freedom to think and dream.

Clara also emphasized the importance of self-care, self-image and personal motivation.
